Tracey Steiner has been corporate counsel for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association since June 1998. NRECA is a nonprofit trade association representing approximately 1,000 nonprofit electric cooperatives that in total supply electric energy to about 37 million consumers nationwide. Mrs. Steiner works extensively with corporate governance and other operational legal issues impacting NRECA's member cooperatives. She began her career at NRECA in communications and marketing in 1992, and earned her law degree from George Washington University Law School while continuing to work full time. She received a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1990. Mrs. Steiner is married with two sons, ages 5 years and 2 years, and is actively involved in the parents advisory group for her sons' daycare.
