Dru was born in Delaware and raised in Apple Valley, Minnesota.  He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BS in Electrical Engineering in  2004.  He quickly found work at the US Patent and Trademark Office, where he is currently employed.

Dru has been mentoring with BEST Kids since March 2007, and he and his mentee are active participants in the monthly peer group.  He became a mentor in order to have an impact on the lives of young African American boys who have had a less fortunate upbringing than he had.  He says, “I love seeing the positive impact and influence I have on these kids.”  He wants to give them the hope, belief, and optimism that they can become anything they want to be.
