BEST Kids 5K Race & Kids’ Fun Run

Join BEST Kids for the BEST Kids 5K Race & Free Kids’ Fun Run in spirit of National Foster-Care Month and to support youth in DC’s child welfare system served by the BEST Kids Mentoring Program. Runners, walkers, and strollers are welcome!

When: Saturday, May 11th 2013 at 8am

Where: East Potomac Park-Hains Point, Washington, D.C

Cost: $30 (NO DAY OF REGISTRATION)

RACE DAY INFORMATION

The race will be held RAIN OR SHINE!

DIRECTIONS- Hains Point is easily accessible directly off of 395 Exit 2 Click here for directions to Hains Point

COURSE- Timed and certified by Race DC Timing/3.1 mile race out-and-back along Ohio Dr at East Potomac Park-Hains Point (BEST Kids Course Map)

PARKING- There are a few options for parking. The entrance gate to Hains Point will be open from 6:00 am – 7:30 am. At 7:30 am the entrance gate to Hains Point will close to keep the road clear of moving vehicles during the race. If you arrive after 7:30 am your only option for parking is Option A. Option A: Park at East Potomac Tennis Center (320 FREE spaces) located just before the entrance gate to Hains Point near Buckeye Dr. However, please note that Hains Point (where the start/finish line is located) is .8 miles from this parking lot. Plan accordingly and leave yourself time to walk (or warm up jog!) into the park if you choose to park here! Don’t forget, you still need to get your race bib at registration too! Hains Point Map

Option B: You may park within Hains Point if you arrive prior to 7:30 am. Parking is available along both sides of Ohio Drive (along the street and various small lots) and at the playground. The start/finish is at Parking Lot 11. Hains Point Map

**However, please note, if you choose to park within the park you cannot leave until the commencement of race activities (following the Kids’ Fun Run at 9:00 am) when the roads will be clear of children/runners/walkers. We anticipate at 9:30 am the latest! If you park outside Hains Point there are no departure restrictions. In the meantime, learn about BEST Kids Mentoring Program at our information table, enjoy some free refreshments, listen to music, cheer the kids on, stop by the FREE kids activities corner (face painting etc.) or enjoy the views from Hains Point!

Race Packet Pick-Up- On race day, May 11th between 6:45 am-7:45 am

Kids’ Fun Run is FREE and open to all kids under 12 years old. The Kids’ Fun Run will begin at 9 am. To register for the race please sign up all youth (including sign waiver) the day-of between 7:00 am-8:45 am. The Kids’ Fun Run is just for fun (it will not be timed and there will be no t-shirts).

Start & Finish Line: The race will Start & Finish by the playground on Ohio SW/East Potomac Park
