ART of the Matter: Through the Lens

Event Postponed

BEST Kids is excited to host our annual Art of the Matter event. This year's theme is "Through The Lens." We are excited to showcase our BEST Kids documentary, The ME in Mentoring, telling the lived stories of the youth we serve and the impact BEST Kids has on their lives. Also, join us in watching "Short Term 12," an award-winning movie that shares glimpses of common realities youth in foster care and the adults who work alongside them often experience. Make sure to join us after the show for our afterparty for drinks, hors d'oeuvres and desserts.

Superhero 5K & Fun Run

We are looking forward to hosting our 9th Annual Superhero 5K & Fun Run on May 1st, 2021 at Hains Point, as we kick off National Foster Care Month. This family-friendly fundraising event celebrates the everyday superheroes that make a positive impact in the lives of DC's youth in foster care.

Given the uncertainty we're facing, we have decided to continue offering a virtual race option this year that includes some added technology that will make your participation a bit more interactive and easy. Between May 1st and 31st we are asking our supporters from all over the world to get out and run, walk, cycle or jog in solidarity with the BEST Kids team and the youth we serve.

Annual Family Winter Celebration

Every January, BEST Kids hosts a Family Winter Celebration in coordination with Sodexo and Howard University. The Family Winter Celebration is a time for mentors, mentees, and their families to enjoy a variety of crafts, music, cooking lessons, a cupcake making competition, and family time. Through the generous donations of organizations such as TopKick Karate and Packaged for Success, BEST Kids is able to give a holiday gift to every young person who attends. Check out to video below to see the festivities of the 2018 Family Winter Celebration!

'Ohana Luau (Family Picnic)

It's A Luau! ‘Ohana means family, and BEST Kids loves to celebrate with the BK family at our Annual Family Luau. From activities for all ages, including sand art, a photo booth, and rain stick making, to delicious Hawaiian food, mentors, mentees, and their families will enjoy a fun today together. At the end of the day, BEST Kids takes the time to congratulate the youth who move up in the next grade and Peer Group.
